Meet Jessica Shepherd, Sr. Director, Integrated Solutions Strategy, CRS Solutions Consultant

Jessica Shepherd has worked in the pharmaceutical industry for over two decades in both operational and strategic positions. At Parexel, she is now a Senior Director in Solutions Consulting. Her team develops strategies and builds proposals and bid defenses for Immunology and Inflammation study opportunities.
Reflecting on your work at Parexel, what are you most proud of and why?
I collaborated closely with the Global Therapeutic Area Medical Head of Allergy to establish a Food Allergy Advisory Board. This initiative was aimed to address the regulatory requirements of food allergy trials, particularly the challenges and risks associated with food challenges. Our goal is to publish a white paper later this year, proposing safer and more effective alternatives to current study designs and procedures.
What do you think is the most important skill you bring to your team?
Seeing the bigger picture. This allows me to anticipate challenges, identify opportunities and align our team’s efforts with Parexel’s strategic goals. By understanding the broader context, I can make informed decisions that drive long-term success and innovation.
What is one way you always keep “Patients First?”
Ten years ago, I committed to participating in one clinical trial per year, and now I’m starting my 10th study! Volunteering in clinical research has helped me build stronger connections with research teams, gain empathy for patients and contribute to drug development. I encourage my colleagues to volunteer in clinical trials to enhance professional growth, connect with the community and make a real difference in patient care.
One of Parexel's Behaviours is to “Win as One Team.” What does this Behavior mean to you and can you share an example where you have seen this Behavior in action at Parexel?
“Win as One Team” means leveraging the collective strengths, knowledge and dedication of our team to achieve remarkable outcomes. A prime example of this was our recent success with the large, global Phase III MASH program. Despite having limited indication experience compared to our competitors, we harmonized our cross-functional expertise to secure this win. I was inspired by my colleagues’ unwavering commitment, collaboration and innovative thinking. Their efforts exemplified the true spirit of teamwork and made this achievement possible. It was an incredible experience to be part of such a dedicated and cohesive team.
