Could you please introduce yourself?
My name is Moe Ba, and since July 2022 I have been leading HR Program Management globally for Parexel as the Director of HR Program Management.
How did you get to your current role?
I started at Parexel as a Consultant on a learning management system implementation. I believe I impressed certain people with how I helped make things happen and push things forward. I was identified as a potential lead for this role. My manager asked me what I wanted to do, and I told her exactly what I wanted. She was able to create that role for me and bring me on board. I got here by demonstrating what I can contribute to the organization, and it was recognized. Having worked for 30 years, there have not been many opportunities to be recognized as I have been at Parexel.
Now that you're in the role, what do you do?
In this role, I work with all parts of HR bringing excellence to HR projects. I help teach standards and lay out different practices that our team members can follow to easily execute projects. I brought more rigor to project management - reporting, documentation, communication, collaboration, and transparency. My goal is to turn our HR organization into a project-based organization versus a task-based organization and teach everyone about how to use change management in executing our projects. If we can adapt to change faster, the company gets more value out of projects sooner.
How do you ensure that the entire organization is demonstrating excellence in delivery?
It's about streamlining how we work, working smarter, not harder, and leveraging the technologies we have. I'm an evangelist when it comes to leveraging the right technologies because I've seen the impact. My goal is to make sure my teams are aware of this technology, understand how to leverage it, and bring that level of excellence into their projects so we can deliver faster, get more value from our delivery, and plan better.
What skill set do Parexel employees need in the future?
For Parexel to be successful in the future, we will have to ensure that our people are great at managing relationships. If we can establish successful relationships and trust with our clients, that sets the pace for us to be leaders in our market. Building long-lasting, profitable relationships that also create opportunities for our own employees.

Share your experience as part of two Employee Resource Groups (ERG) at Parexel.
One of the most amazing things I'm involved in at Parexel is BEACON (Black Employee Advisory Consortium). This ERG provides support and resources for employees of Black and African heritage at Parexel to improve themselves and become greater assets to our organization. As a co-lead for BEACON, I support putting forth mentoring programs, career development and retention programs.
I'm also excited about being part of the Veterans ERG, as I'll be able to connect with other veterans who are interested in Parexel and new employees who are veterans. Our veterans ERG group is getting started, and we have a few programs we're planning to run dedicated to bringing in more veterans and creating opportunities for them and their families.
How has your military background influenced your professional career?
My military experience has shaped my entire professional career. I started in the Army as a tanker, then switched to the Navy where I got into HR. The military inspired how I run my daily life and work - from making my bed first thing in the morning to approaching tasks. I insist on transparency and communication. When I see silos, I bring my pick-axe, but it has a cherry on top. It's sweet. It's not harsh. But we have conversations about how we collaborate. How do we work better together as a unit? This is the perspective that I bring.
If you're speaking to a prospective employee interested in a role at Parexel, what would you say is the Parexel difference?
Opportunity, creativity, and dynamism. These three qualities create an environment where success, growth, and change are inevitable. If you want to grow, learn more, excel, and create new opportunities for yourself, you need to work for an organization like Parexel. Everybody here wants to do great things, and you can't help but be inspired by that.
Personal Insights

Can you tell us something most people don't know about you?
I become a complete five-year-old around my four-year-old granddaughter. She just opens up my heart, and I seek to have more time with her. I realize it's important to stop and breathe and have those little moments, how important they are for her and in turn, how important they are for us. It's important to stop an smell the roses once in a while. We can get lost in the riff-raff and the grind, the daily grind, but smelling the flowers, stopping and smelling the flowers is important.
I think being at Parexel, in and of itself, has helped me relax more, become less tense and be more engaged. It has helped me become less stressed and more focused. And the love for my granddaughter is a cherry on top of everything. I look forward to talking to her after work every day.
