Senior Disaster Recovery Engineer

Key Accountabilities:

Disaster Recovery Readiness  

• Possess familiarity with system analysis and project management methodology and/or possession of a strong background in IT Technologies such as Server Hardware, Storage, Networking to drive the success of the Disaster Recovery Program.
• Maintain critical business process priority to DR plan readiness to establish resources required for the successful resumption of business operations in the event of a disaster.
• Lead successful outcomes in a matrix environment and promote the importance of teamwork.
• Manage the Disaster Recovery program using the Business Continuity Software Suite and ensure all data is current in the system.
• Establish and maintain the overall plans for executing all DR procedures and understand their interdependencies to ensure Parexel is always ready for a disaster and Application Testing.
• Manage change control process to keep all plans updated for changes in recovery team members, facilities, services, systems, and testing dates.
• Performs regular reviews and updates to all program activities to identify areas of opportunity for improvement and enhanced operational resiliency.
• Provide ongoing feedback for risk management, mitigation, and prevention.
• Partner with leadership, subject matter experts, and management to develop detailed and comprehensive disaster recovery plans for each required application.

DR Plan Test and Incident Execution   

• Assist in managing recovery during a crisis event as needed and assist with incident response.
• Partner with the Incident Management team and assist in facilitating business recovery, as required.
• Provide expertise and support to management and business functional areas, as required, when a business disruption occurs.
• Schedule and lead DR exercises.
• Lead sessions to create Day of Event Runbooks.
• Complete required Documentation pre/post DR Exercises.
• Conduct Lessons learned to ensure continual improvement and prevent repeat issues from recurring.
• On and Off-shift support for DR activities.
  

Audit Support  

• Provide required documentation in a timely manner in support of sponsor audits.
• Use excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills to showcase the Parexel Disaster Recovery Program and field auditor questions.
  

Site Operations Management 

• Coordinate work at co-location facilities to occur on time with the needed teams for successful first-time execution.
• Submit tickets for co-location access.
• Maintain data center and rack layouts to always be current.
• Manage planned power outages at remote sites and triage unplanned power outages to ensure minimal site downtime.
• Manage UPS health at remote sites to prevent site disruption.

Experience:

• 8 to 10 years of experience is required. Required to participate in an on-call rotation.

Education:

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering or equivalent.
